United Learning

Welcome to Stockport Academy.

Thank you for taking an interest in developing your career at our academy, which was officially named as Greater Manchester's Secondary School of the Year at the MEN School Awards 2022.

I am confident that we are able to offer a vibrant and welcoming learning community for any staff member joining us.

We have an aspirational culture at the academy that encourages everyone – students and staff alike – to achieve their best. Underpinned by our values of belief, aspiration, achievement and respect, the academy has successfully been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

In their most recent report, Ofsted described our standards as ‘high’, and said that ‘relationships between pupils and teachers are typically strong and pupils trust teachers to help them improve their work’. Inspectors noted that ‘staff are proud to be part of the school community’ and ‘they are highly motivated because they feel valued’.

As a part of United Learning, our academy benefits from shared resources, experiences, working practices and CPD opportunities that are second to none. We are delighted to have been named as the Group’s United Teaching centre for the North from September 2016, and we work with our partner schools to provide high-quality training for current staff and trainees.  This affords further opportunities for staff to provide a vital contribution in our pursuit to deliver the highest standards of educational excellence.

We are a diverse, tolerant and welcoming academy which continues to be an oversubscribed school of choice for local families. I would encourage you to visit us yourself to experience first-hand what Stockport Academy offers its staff and students.
