Held at the world-famous Royal Opera House, Everybody Sing The Magic Flute marked the beginning of a nationwide collaboration based on Mozart’s iconic opera. As part of the initiative, students from 53 United Learning schools – including our own – have been working alongside professional artists to learn and perform songs from The Magic Flute, helping to develop their creativity, confidence and collaboration.
Our students joined more than 1,700 pupils in performing six songs from the opera at the launch concert, accompanied by the Royal Ballet & Opera Orchestra and professional opera singers in a truly spectacular celebration of music and learning.
Adding to the excitement of the day, students even had the chance to meet the MP for Stockport, Navendu Mishra, while in London - who was thrilled to hear about their involvement in the project and praised their hard work and talent.
This concert is just the beginning – students will continue rehearsing the rest of the repertoire over the coming weeks, before showcasing their talents once again at a major performance at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall later in the summer term.
Music Teacher Mr Bocock said: “Our students were absolutely fantastic – their commitment and enthusiasm really stood out. To perform at the Royal Opera House and meet so many talented young musicians from other schools was incredibly inspiring. We’re all looking forward to the next stage of the journey!”
