The event was designed to help students familiarise themselves with their new school environment, meet their peers, and enjoy a variety of fun and educational activities before the official start of the academic year in September.
The week kicked off with a warm welcome in the Sports Hall, followed by a series of dynamic sessions. Students showcased their athleticism in multi-sports and football on the astro pitches, while others explored their creativity in activities such as cake decorating and aspiring artist workshops. For budding engineers, the rocket launch and human body sessions were particularly thrilling, giving them hands-on experience in scientific exploration.
Tuesday continued the excitement with sessions that included Just Dance in the Dance Studio, collage creation for the artistically inclined, and another round of rocket launches that saw students collaborating to create and test their designs. The day ended with them proudly receiving rewards for their participation and achievements.
Mid-week activities on Wednesday featured the popular Pea Shooting Challenge and Tank Building, as well as Circuit Building for those interested in technology. Story-writing sessions also allowed students to express their creativity and share their imaginative tales.
The Summer School culminated on Thursday with an all-out sports day. Students competed in various athletic challenges, demonstrating teamwork and sportsmanship. The week wrapped up with an awards ceremony, where students were recognised for their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the week.
Assistant Principal Ms Stirling praised the students, saying: "We are incredibly proud of how well everyone has done during Summer School. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn have been wonderful to see and we can't wait to welcome them properly in the coming weeks and watch them thrive at Stockport Academy."
